The year 2024 has become a turning point for the next decade.
Release: Buriedbornes2
Buriedbornes2 has been released!
Buriedbornes2 is a new title that combines the simple controls and deep strategy of the previous Buriedbornes series, with a more detailed depiction of the game world of Vaasigart and even greater freedom in build construction.
Currently, there are over 240,000 registered users, and the total number of users of the series has exceeded 3 million.
I have gradually resolved the issues that occurred immediately after release, and I am now providing a stable version, and planning a major update to v1.4.0 in January 2025.
Through monthly updates, I will continue to add new unions and new dungeons on the 1st of each month, and will continue to expand the content in 2025.
I hope you will continue to support the Buriedbornes series.
Headwinds
2024 was a headwind not only for Nussygame but for many people involved in the gaming industry.
The number of new titles released on Steam is reaching nearly double the number of the previous year. (In 2023, it was about 14,000 titles, and as of early December 2024, it has reached 22,000 titles, and it is still unclear how far the final value will grow.)
Layoffs at game companies were also in the news in June, exceeding the total for the previous year.
It is something to be happy about as the industry becomes more exciting, and users are also blessed with more options to choose works that suit their tastes, but on the other hand, since users’ income and usable time are limited, it is not difficult to imagine that there is a fight over the pie.
Even Nussygame released a major new title this year, but its sales were not able to exceed the previous year’s figures. (Still, thanks to you, I was able to reach a more than sufficient level of annual revenue.)
I’ve been making games on my own for over 20 years, but the game industry (especially the indie game field) is experiencing unprecedented excitement, and I’ve never seen such a red ocean.
It’s unknown what the situation will be like next year and beyond, and it’s expected that independent game developers, whose livelihoods are directly linked to sales, will continue to face difficult times.
In light of these impacts, Nussygame also feels the need to reconsider its development and management structure.
Future development policy
Nussygame titles are developed and operated with the aim of being “titles that you can return to at any time.”
In other words, I place importance on points such as “not limiting content to a certain period as much as possible,” “not restricting the game more than necessary so that players can play at their own pace,” and “allowing players to play for several years through long-term content updates.“
However, in the current situation of game oversupply, this management policy is undeniably somewhat disadvantageous.
It is difficult to choose attractive measures such as exposure and limited-time content, so it is difficult for users to see the games, and issues such as the fact that I cannot expect many returning users even when content is updated are expanding.
However, I do not think it is desirable to change the management policy for existing titles. (That would be a betrayal of existing users who play the games expecting stable long-term management.)
I intend to maintain the management system for Buriedbornes1/2 and B100X, which continues to deliver regular major updates.
However, it is also true that I do not have the man-hours to create a new management-based game, and I am currently carrying out major updates for 3 titles in sequence, so our schedule is packed.
Therefore, in order for Nussygame to increase its exposure and reach a wider range of users even in the current difficult environment, I plan to increase the development of new Buy-Out Titles.
From early 2025, I will gradually release information about new titles through developer letters and other means, so please stay tuned.
Towards 2025
With a combination of issues during the release of Buriedbornes 2, health issues, and the harsh climate, I feel that this year has not been smooth at all.
Next year will mark Nussygame’s 10th year as a privately owned business.
It is all thanks to all of you who play Nussygame’s games that I have been able to continue this far, and that I will be able to continue into the future.
In order to repay this debt of gratitude, I will continue to take on new challenges and do my best to adapt flexibly to the situation.

Progress of Cancer
I was hospitalized in late 2020 for surgery to remove cancer.
No metastasis has been found this year either, and the progress is going well.
My family
My wife has discovered an interest in handicrafts and has been quite active in them since the beginning of this year. I often took over her household chores.
My son is about to enter junior high school and seem to be into programming and composing music.
Two cats have been at their own pace all year.
